So I just clicked a link directing me to Megaupload, completely forgetting that the website was just taken down a few days ago and I was greeted with this page. Wow is all I can say. If this is any precursor of what is to come, I think it is fair to say that I am officially spooked.
Fuck them. Until the day I die I’ll be sharing media with nobody’s permission. Same as it ever was.
Can somebody explain to me how Racketeering applies here? When did Megaupload become the mafia?
Basically, since the Uploader Rewards program rewarded those who had most-accessed files, they were rewarding people for infringing copyright, i.e. encouraging them to commit infringements of copyright.
